Arriva Buses Wales is proud to be supporting the Urdd Eisteddfod 2010. We will be putting on a special bus service for the event and will be on site throughout the week, offering advice on our range of services and tickets throughout North and Mid Wales. For further information on the Urdd Eisteddfod itself, please visit the Urdd website.

Urdd Express bus service:
The Urdd Express will link the towns of Aberaeron and Lampeter to the Eisteddfod site at Llanerchaeron – operating half hourly from 9.30am until 5.30pm from Monday 31 May to Saturday 5 June (inclusive).
Single fares are just £1 (50p for children under 16) or you can buy a Day Ticket for £2 (£1 for children), which offers unlimited travel on the Urdd Express all day.
So whether you travelling to the Urdd from further afield, or you fancy an afternoon out, let Arriva take you there on the Urdd Express! To view the Urdd Express timetable please click here.
There are also a number of connecting services - see below for details:
The X40 (Aberystwyth to Carmarthen) and 550 (Aberystwyth to Synod Inn) both serve Aberaeron, where you can connect onto the Urdd Express. The X40 also passes the Llanerchaeron site, but unlike the Urdd Express, does not serve the venue itself. The 585 service links Aberystwyth to Lampeter via Tregaron.
Eisteddfodwyr urged to get on the bus or bike!
With 100,000 visitors expected over the week long festival, thoughts now turn to travel arrangements and while some Eisteddfodwyr may choose to use their cars, others may wish to choose one of the other options on offer this year.
The message from the Eisteddfod’s Site Manager, Ian Carter is for motorists to follow the signsposts, which will be in place on all main roads leading to the Eisteddfod. “It’s very important that those travelling to the Eisteddfod in their cars follow the yellow signs which will be in place shortly before the festival begins,” said Ian Carter. “The signs will direct motorists directly to the Eisteddfod field and to the appropriate car parks.”
However, travelling by car isn’t the only option open to those visiting the Eisteddfod this year. The special Arriva bus service will help those travelling between Aberaeron, Llanerchaeron and Lampeter. Nick Gordon, marketing manager for Arriva Buses Wales, said: “The service will drop off and pick up on the ‘maes’ itself so it will be a great way to ensure you’re in plenty of time for that all important preliminary competition or if you’re going to the Eisteddfod to enjoy a wonderful day out.”
And for the more energetic Eisteddfodwr, Llanerchaeron is situated on a 3km cycle route through the pleasant Aeron Valley linking the coastal town of Aberaeron with the National Trust property at Llanerchaeron. The gravel surfaced route follows the old railway line alongside the river Aeron with short sections of quiet country roads at each end. Apart from a moderate uphill section at the Aberaeron end the route is generally flat and is suitable for most grades of cyclist. And with cycle racks available to store bikes on the ‘maes’, there’s no excuse not to get on your bike!

“The cycle path from Aberaeron to Llanerchaeron is not only a beautiful route through this landscape but will be an easy and convenient way for local people to make their journey to the Eisteddfod on foot or by bike,” said Angela Spiteri, Marketing Manager for Sustrans in Wales. Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity. “The Urdd Eisteddfod and the National Trust are really enthusiastic about making sure as many people as possible use this route during the Eisteddfod week and given that there will be a place to park the bikes on site, let’s hope it’s a popular venture.”
