Glasgow Flyer
The Glasgow Flyer 500 service, which links Glasgow Airport and the city centre, no longer operates, having finished after service on Sunday 31 July 2011.
Arriva Scotland West managing director Richard Hall said: "It has been very disappointing to have to make the decision to discontinue the Glasgow Flyer service as for over three years our dedicated team of staff have transported millions of passengers to and from the airport and was named the best bus service in Scotland in the Scottish Transport Awards 2009 .
"Since January we have been prevented from using the Public Transport Zone at the airport and have had to use a stand in Bute Road. This has proved considerably less convenient for passengers and was highlighted as a significant barrier to travel in recent customer research undertaken and despite significant investment in rebranding and revitalizing the service and additional marketing the service has made a loss over the last six months.
It's a real regret to have to make this decision and will have a huge impact on both our staff and customers who will now have less choice in travelling between Glasgow City centre and Glasgow airport. I can however confirm that there will not be any redundancies as a result of this decision and we intend to deploy our valued staff onto an exciting new project."
