Newcastle
Newcastle was voted ‘top English city’ in the 2005 Guardian travel guides for the third time running. This title comes as no surprise to those who know the city as it is bursting with entertainment, stylish shops and bars and lets not forget the famous St James’s Park – the home of Newcastle United Football Club.
Both Newcastle University and Northumbria University are situated in Newcastle, which means the city is literally buzzing with students and things to do. Here is what they have to say about their city...

In Newcastle, we’ve got clubs and bars with cheese, dance, R&B, 80s, 90s and chart music, revolving dance floors and bucking broncos!
Osborne Road, Quay Side and the Bigg Market cater for all and to top it off, there is a great choice of student nights with cheap deals.
You also have the choice of two Student Unions with Solution at Newcastle University and Wiggle at Northumbria - both playing music to keep you going all night!

Definitely the cheap and cheerful option but there is no need to be fussy when it comes to great food. Charlie’s offers the ‘all you can eat’ option which will satisfy any appetite. It does get busy at popular times of the day but that’s a sign that it really is good value for money and also adds to the laidback self service style.

Eldon Square shopping centre is the place to go if you are a shopaholic like me. As well as a huge selection of shops there is a really vibrant atmosphere and lots of great eateries. I’d recommend it to anyone!
